I love brownies. I love fudge.
I wanted a dessert that was a combination of the two, and after a couple (tasty) trials, I have done it. Eating all the results of "trial" dessert recipes? It is a tough job, but someone has to do it...
These are decadently dense and fudgy, like nothing you have ever enjoyed before.
INGREDIENTS
2tbspChia Seeds
1/4cupplus 1 Tablespoon Water
3/4cupButter (Earth Balance soy free)
4oz Dark Chocolate, chopped
3/4cupMaple Syrup
2tspVanilla
3/4cupFlour (Gluten-free All Purpose)
1/3cupCream Cheese (Tofutti)
2tbspadditional Maple Syrup (or sweetener of choice)

STEP 1
Combine chia and water, set aside to gel.
STEP 2
In medium saucepan, melt butter and dark chocolate over medium heat, stirring often until completely melted. Remove from heat - allow to cool slightly.
STEP 3
Add maple syrup, vanilla, chia mixture and flour, stirring after each and stirring just enough to combine.
STEP 4
Pour batter into prepared (greased, floured or lined with parchment) 9x9 or similar size pan.
STEP 5
Combine cream cheese and maple syrup, pour or spoon over brownies, swirl through with knife.
STEP 6
Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes, or until inserted toothpick comes clean.
