10 Of The Unhealthiest Drinks From Dunkin'
Founded in 1950, Dunkin' (formerly known as Dunkin' Donuts) is the United States' largest coffee and donuts brand. The tagline America runs on Dunkin' couldn't be more accurate, as the country has more than 14,000 locations.
In addition to being Ben Affleck's chain of choice, Dunkin' has the distinction of rolling out some pretty delicious collaborations. Beyond the seasonal offerings, like the Strawberry Lemon Loaf and Tropical Guava Refresher of this past summer, the chain has collaborated with artists like Sabrina Carpenter and even recently released a series of "Harry Potter" themed treats.
However, as a brand that's made its mark in territories where caffeine and sugar are the heavy hitters, Dunkin' definitely isn't the healthiest way to start your day, even if it is the most convenient. While you can certainly finesse some more healthful options on the brand's menu, many of the beverages are loaded with calories, fat, and sugar.
For the purposes of this article, we looked at Dunkin's nutritional info sheet (provided on its website) and based our decisions on total calorie count, grams of fat, and grams of sugar. All numbers are for a medium-sized beverage without any additions, substitutions, or modifications from how the drink arrives in a standard order. America might run on Dunkin', but you'd have to run an awful lot if you're adding any of these drinks to your regular morning routine.
Cereal N' Milk Coolatta
Sip on the flavor of sweet, sweet nostalgia with one of Dunkin's newest menu items, the limited edition Cereal N' Milk Coolatta. For those who don't know, a Coolatta is a Dunkin' signature drink that's blended for a delicious slushy-like consistency, similar to Starbucks' famous Frappuccinos.
The Cereal N' Milk flavor is a new one for fall 2025 and comes in an iced and hot latte version as well. Unlike other Dunkin' products, what makes the Cereal N' Milk series so special is the secret cereal milk used to flavor these extra sweet beverages. According to a press release, the beverages are supposed to have a "marshmallow-flavored, bottom-of-the-bowl taste in every sip." However, over on The Takeout, a reviewer tasted both hot and iced lattes and declared them way too sweet, to the point of unpleasantness.
That sweetness is to be expected when you take one look at the nutritional numbers involved. In a medium-sized Cereal N' Milk Coolatta, customers who have a hankering for caffeine and sugar will be overloaded with 670 calories, 5 grams of fat, and 140 grams of sugar. According to Healthline, the maximum amount of sugar adults should consume in a day is 50 grams, meaning that a single order of this Coolatta is almost triple your daily allotment.
Candy Bar Frozen Coffee
If your drink is inspired by candy bars, you probably can't expect it to be light when it comes to sugar, right? We have to give points to Dunkin' for being transparent about the lack of healthfulness in this drink, since it did call it a Candy Bar Frozen Coffee.
Another limited edition item for fall 2025 that arrives in time for Halloween, this frozen coffee — a blended beverage with a milkshake-like or slushy-like consistency — is made with a candy bar swirl, milk, ice, espresso, whipped cream, mocha drizzle, and finished off with candy pieces. Like a lot of Dunkin' products, it's sweet enough that you can skip the chain's donuts and enjoy a sugary treat and beverage all at the same time. However, it'll cost you.
Like the other beverages we looked at for the purposes of this article, we selected a medium Candy Bar Frozen Coffee for our metrics. One will net you 820 calories, 31 grams of fat (18 of them saturated), and 105 grams of sugar. We know Halloween is the time of year when everyone gives up the ghost and indulges in their favorite bite-sized treats, but this drink might have us reaching for a regular Reese's instead of bothering with this seasonal bevvie from Dunkin'.
Pumpkin Frozen Coffee
Another seasonal offering from Dunkin' is the Pumpkin Frozen Coffee. A returning favorite that joins its gourd-themed brethren, the Pumpkin Frozen Coffee can be found alongside the Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte (available hot or iced), pumpkin muffin, pumpkin donut, pumpkin Munchkins, and a new iced pumpkin loaf.
Whether or not you like pumpkin and the seasonal spice that shares its name (made up of some familiar panty staples), it's a fall flavor that has been around for decades now and will surely remain far into the future. Like the Coolatta and Candy Bar Frozen Coffee mentioned above, Dunkin's Pumpkin Frozen Coffee has a rich, milkshake-like texture and semi-caffeinated taste. We say "semi-caffeinated" because, while there is espresso in the ingredients, this beverage is also laden with sugar in the form of a pumpkin spice swirl, vanilla shot, caramel drizzle, whipped cream, and cinnamon sugar. All those extra ingredients bring the total count of a medium size of this drink to 750 calories, 26 grams of fat (14 of them saturated), and 117 grams of sugar. If you're really needing your PSL fix, skip the whipped cream and caramel drizzle at the very least, or make it a very occasional indulgence at best.
Triple Mocha Frozen Coffee
Chocoholics may rejoice or be cured of their obsession, depending on whether or not their palate blows out from the sheer amount of sugar and chocolate in Dunkin's Triple Mocha Frozen Coffee. The drink boasts mocha syrup, mocha drizzle, a mountain of whipped cream, and hot chocolate powder on top. Underneath all that, of course, you will have the flavor of coffee, in the form of coffee syrup rather than traditional espresso or iced coffee.
This seems like an ideal drink for the person who likes to pretend they enjoy coffee, but really want to order a chocolate milkshake without getting side-eyed. It's a slushy, sugary creation that might perk you up immediately after drinking it — thanks to the combination of caffeine and the 126 grams of sugar found in a medium –– but will inevitably lead to a pretty major sugar crash. At 840 calories and with 31 grams of fat (18 of them the saturated kind, which impacts heart health), this Triple Mocha Frozen Coffee is a real triple threat where calories, sugar, and fat are concerned.
Caramel Swirl Frozen Chocolate
Unlike those who order the Triple Mocha Frozen Coffee, devotees of the Caramel Swirl Frozen Chocolate aren't playing games: They know they're basically ordering a slightly slushy chocolate milkshake. We respect that level of honesty and self-awareness.
This Dunkin' beverage takes your regular hot chocolate and freezes it for a sippable, icy treat. That way, you can enjoy this drink year-round instead of waiting for the weather to cool. It's swirled with the syrup of your choosing (in this case, caramel), piled high with a generous amount of whipped cream, and finished off with more of that same drizzle.
You might want to hold off on adding marshmallows to this not-so-hot chocolate, though, because it already has a staggering 126 grams of sugar — more than twice the recommended daily amount. The whipped cream contributes to the 14 grams of fat while the drink as a whole earns customers 700 total calories in a medium. A regular hot chocolate from the donut chain clocks in at less than half the calories and sugar, for reference.
Butter Pecan Swirl Frozen Chocolate
The Butter Pecan Swirl Frozen Chocolate is identical to the Caramel Swirl Frozen Chocolate in terms of numbers. Both have 700 calories, 14 grams of fat, and 126 grams of sugar in a medium size. Where they differentiate, however, is in ingredients in their respective syrups.
The Butter Pecan Swirl doesn't, in fact, contain any actual pecans. What it does have are multiple kinds of sugar. This syrup is made with sweetened condensed nonfat milk, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and brown sugar. The drink is also made with the Caramel Swirl syrup used in the beverage above, as well.
It's really a matter of personal preference between the Butter Pecan Frozen Chocolate and the Caramel Swirl Frozen Chocolate, as both are the same when it comes to dietary metrics. For a more toasty flavor, choose Butter Pecan. For a more brown sugar with vanilla vibe, go with Caramel. Or, you can save yourself from this incredibly unhealthy drink and order something entirely different altogether.
Caramel Creme Frozen Coffee
Dunkin' calls its Frozen Coffees "coffee," but the only source of java can be found in the coffee syrup, which is made with coffee but also includes sugar, natural flavors, preservatives, and gums. All that to say that, while the Caramel Creme Frozen Coffee is named as such, it hardly contains the supposed star ingredient.
What it does contain, however, is cream, so the "creme" moniker seems more like an attempt at fanciness than accuracy. This slushy frozen drink is primarily flavored with caramel and vanilla shorts and syrups before getting doused in a hefty amount of whipped cream and a sprinkling of cinnamon sugar on top. The coffee is but a whisper under all that sugar and cream, so if you're looking for something that'll give you your morning jolt, you might want to keep walking.
In fact, walking is what you'll likely need to do a lot of, because this Dunkin' drink is the most egregious offender on the entire menu (from what's currently available, anyway). A medium clocks in at 860 calories with 30 grams of fat (17 of them the unsaturated kind) and 132 grams of sugar.
Vanilla Bean Coolatta
Vanilla gets a reputation for being ho-hum. After all, don't we usually describe boring things as being vanilla? But this flavor is actually far more complex than we give it credit for, with hundreds of flavor compounds found in the beans themselves. You can also save a lot of money by buying the beans and making your own vanilla extract at home. From floral to spicy, vanilla is anything but boring.
That's why it's so frustrating to see a brand like Dunkin' try to capitalize on the complexity and nuance of the vanilla bean by naming one of its drinks after it without actually containing any vanilla bean at all. Yes, that's right: The Vanilla Bean Coolatta is flavored with a vanilla bean syrup but all that's listed in the ingredients of the syrup is the vague "natural and artificial flavors." We think if you're using real vanilla bean on such a wide scale, you would want to let the public know they're getting the good stuff.
Alas, that is not the case and, while the drink itself isn't especially appalling compared to the others on this list, make no mistake: It's still not healthy. This vanilla milkshake contains no coffee at all, but it does boast 570 calories, 4.5 grams of fat, and a whopping 125 grams of sugar in a medium.
French Vanilla Swirl Frozen Coffee
Unlike regular vanilla, French vanilla has something unique about it that makes it just slightly different from the usual kind: egg yolks. The richness of egg in French vanilla flavors (like ice cream) adds depth and creaminess, as well as a slightly yellow hue, which is how many people are able to differentiate between the two with just a look.
Of course, Dunkin' doesn't use actual egg to flavor its French Vanilla Swirl Frozen Coffee. When made with cream (the default option), a medium size of this drink has 750 calories, 26 grams of fat, and 117 grams of sugar. We're not sure what causes this flavor variety to ramp up the amount of calories and fat but decrease the amount of sugar when compared to the Caramel Swirl Frozen Coffee and Butter Pecan Swirl Frozen Coffee, but the numbers don't lie.
If you're still after a French vanilla frozen drink with a hint of coffee, we suggest dropping down to a small size and opting to have it made with skim milk, instead. These swaps will deliver a drink that has only three grams of fat, but is still 380 calories with 80 grams of sugar.
Frozen Chai Latte
For those who aren't into the traditional flavors of fall, like pumpkin, there's chai. Or, if you're Starbucks, you combine the two into a Pumpkin Chai Latte. With key spices like cardamom, pepper, ginger, and cinnamon flavoring it, chai is a delicious example of bold flavors coming together to work in harmony.
The Frozen Chai Latte from Dunkin' does in fact use brewed black tea and chai spice (although the exact spices in the blend here are left up to interpretation) in the form of its chai tea syrup. Of course, like all things Dunkin', that syrup is given a hefty dose of sugar to help it along — to the tune of 96 total grams in a medium size of the beverage. The drink is of course blended — as all the brand's drinks with the moniker "frozen" are — giving it a slushy consistency that amplifies the milkiness while tamping down some of the spicier notes. As a whole, in terms of calories, the Frozen Chai Latte is on the lower side, at least when compared to most of the others on this list. But don't be mistaken: At 520 calories and 9 grams of fat, it's still a beverage that should be enjoyed rarely.
