Buy This Trendy Halloween Candy To Be The Coolest House On The Block

Trends come and go like the wind for just about everything, and our tasty snack foods are no different. With Halloween coming up, now's a good time to try the newest candy trends to prepare for all the hungry trick-or-treaters coming your way. One major candy trend right now is a unique viral sensation that's been making the rounds on social media in the last few years: peelable candy.

It all more or less started when Walgreens' store brand, Nice!, released a line of peelable fruit gummy candy simply called "Gummy Candy" in fall of 2023. It does precisely what it says on the wrapper: presents a fruit gummy candy that you can peel and eat sort of like a real fruit. Each candy consists of a firmer outer 'peel' and a soft, chewy center. Since their release, they've been flying off the shelves, so it's safe to say they'll be one of the most popular Halloween candies of 2025.

Peelable candies, now from all sorts of brands, come in many flavors, including watermelon, banana, and green apple, but the mango flavor is still quite popular and the one that started the trend, so keep an eye out for it while you're shopping for all the candy you'll need come Halloween. You might have to visit a few stores, though, since they reportedly sell fast, so much so that Walgreens had to limit online orders to one bag per cart in the early days of this viral product's availability.

Why are peelable gummies so popular?

The peelable candy trend first emerged in Asia before coming to the United States and has taken off like a rocket mostly because of TikTok. Influencers showcasing the treat led to it selling out within days of release, and it's remained a viral hit since. Of course, we can't give social media all the credit. Viral hits usually take off for a reason, and in this case, it's because the candy is new and novel. In short, peeling them is interactive fun.

Another likely reason is its low price. As of writing, Nice!'s peelable gummy fruits cost only $1.99 per bag, making it all the more attractive to those who don't want to spend a bunch of money on a new treat. It's doubly fortunate because Americans spend a ton on Halloween candy every year. Even if you don't exclusively hand out peelable gummies this year, they're still a good and relatively low-cost option to pad the candy bowl.

Fruit gummies are also just popular right now in general. Members of the Millennial and Gen Z generations have been attracted to nostalgic treats like the ones they grew up with, a lot of which are chewy or gummy fruit candy. Peelables have that fruit gummy nostalgia but also bring a fun innovative twist to the party, creating a confection that managed to be both exciting and nostalgic at the same time.
