What's better than discovering a new go-to snack in the frozen aisle? Sharing it with your online community of frozen dinner enthusiasts! One excited Reddit user was happy to post about their experience with a Pizzeria Uno pepperoni and cheese stromboli on the r/frozendinners subreddit.
Their photograph shows the packaging for the 9-ounce ready-to-bake stromboli alongside the end result. The cooked stromboli looked to be delightfully crispy on the outside and packed with melted cheese and plenty of thinly sliced pepperoni. The author of the post described it as a "better quality Hot Pocket" that they would buy again. Commenters on the post agreed that the microwaved snack looked delicious and perhaps even as if it had been served up at a restaurant. To that end, we think it's got to be better than the worse frozen breakfast sandwich we rated ... which was a Hot Pocket.
If you're headed to the grocery store and are on the lookout for Pizzeria Uno stromboli, be aware that a different-sized version does exist. Around 2024, the brand rolled out a few new products, including a two-pack of its stromboli. In this package, there are two 5-ounce strombolis, instead of the larger 9-ounce version.
Are Uno Pepperoni & Cheese strombolis worth the high price tag?
Admittedly, neither package of Pizzeria Uno stromboli is very budget-friendly. The single 9-ounce version clocks in anywhere between $5.79 and $6.39, depending on where you're shopping. The twin pack at Walmart is $6.96, but you're only getting one more ounce of food. "While they do look really good, 7 bucks seems pretty excessive for 2," one Redditor noted.
Another Reddit thread showed a promising photo of the smaller strombolis cooked in the air fryer — with plenty of meat and cheese inside. Reviews across the internet, however, are mixed when it comes to the contents of the food. Some photos have shown strombolis that contain little meat and/or cheese.
Also, it seems the cooking method impacts the quality greatly — the microwave seems to be hit or miss, while ovens and air fryers (wrapped in aluminum foil, as one commenter recommended) seem to be a better option. On a YouTube channel dedicated to reviewing frozen foods, the reviewer microwaved the stromboli, saying, "I'm really disappointed with how chewy and tough the bread is" (though that's hardly shocking given how the microwave is notorious for turning bread tough). If your pep and cheese stromboli turns out a little lackluster, consider switching up your prep technique or use our frozen pizza trick and add a smoky hot sauce.
