The Unexpected Foods Clint Eastwood Eats For Breakfast Almost Every Day
With a career spanning seven decades, actor and director Clint Eastwood knows a thing or two about longevity. The Hollywood icon –– who made a name for himself starring in TV shows like "Rawhide" and films like "Dirty Harry" before moving behind the camera to become an Academy Award-winning director –– didn't get to where he is today through sheer determination. Part of his lengthy career is likely owed to his unexpected –– and extremely healthy –– breakfast choice of salmon and brown rice.
In an interview with Men's Health, son Scott Eastwood pointed to his father's unconventional approach to breakfast as part of his inspiration when it comes to fitness and wellbeing. "My dad does not eat for pleasure," the younger Eastwood stated. In the same interview, the actor mentioned that exercise is a vital part of his nonagenarian father's routine, saying, "My dad is a machine about exercise."
While salmon may be on the menu, we're not sure of its exact preparation, though we doubt it's of the luxurious salmon Benedict variety, or even a few slices with some schmear on a bagel. (For the record, we like our salmon with a miso and ginger glaze.)
A nutritional, no-frills meal
As far as proteins go, salmon is an incredible source of the stuff. According to Healthline, a 3.5-ounce serving of wild salmon nets you 25 grams of protein, eight grams of fat (including healthy omega-3s), as well as vitamins B12 and B6, selenium, niacin, pantothenic acid, phosphorus, and thiamine.
Studies have found that including salmon in your diet can improve arterial function, support bone health, prevent inflammation, aid in weight management, and more. Truly, while some of us don't necessarily love the idea of eating a filet of fish in the morning, we can't deny the obvious nutritional benefits of doing so.
Alongside that slice of salmon is brown rice, which is different from white rice in how it's processed. Unlike the white version, brown rice offers the body a lot more in terms of nutritional value, including increased fiber, vitamins, and minerals such as manganese. A lack of manganese in your diet can lead to bone demineralization –– something Clint Eastwood clearly hasn't been struggling with, given that the active star and multiple-time Oscar winner has worked well into 2026 as a film producer.
