  • In 1994, Jyl broke the story of the sharp decline in New Orleans' murder rate and the successful ascendancy of a new police chief for Time Magazine after years of reporting on breaking news about the city's police corruption and escalating crime.
  • She wrote the Galatoire's Cookbook: Recipes and Family History from The Time-Honored New Orleans Restaurant (Random House) in 2006. It was the first of four (and, hopefully, many more, cookbooks).
  • Jyl conceived the idea for The Galatoire's Table Auctions, which have raised over $3 million for New Orleans-based charities.

She's currently a writer for The Times-Picayune and Foodie.com, a blogger for SimplyRecipes.com, and a columnist and feature writer for Louisiana Life, St. Charles Avenue, and New Orleans magazines.
