The Dollar Store Hack To Declutter Tupperware Lids In Your Kitchen

We absolutely adore Tupperware food storage containers for leftovers and meal planning, but we hate — loathe, even — the constant battle to keep lids organized. Everyone knows that nesting the containers is the way to save space, but that leaves you with all sorts of errant lids getting in the way when you open your stand-out kitchen cabinets or dedicated Tupperware drawer. When they fall all over the floor? It's like that iconic scene from "Clue" with Madeline Kahn talking about "flames on the side of my face." In other words, total rage bait. Luckily, the dollar store has delivered on yet another space-saving hack that will help you keep those feisty lids in check. All you need are a few napkin holders.
When we first saw this trick in a few reels on social media, we were stupefied by how easy and cheap it was — blissful plastic law and order had been so close all along, and we just didn't know it! It's a IYKYK hack on par with using a lazy Susan in your fridge as a kitchen organization tool. Basically, you just mount a few napkin holders to your cabinets and use them to corral lids by stacking them sideways in the holder. It's that simple. You could actually just place the napkin holders inside your drawers and utilize them without the extra step of fastening them in place, but this eliminates the possibility of taking advantage of otherwise dead space like cabinet doors or side walls.
A little DIY is all you need to contain Tupperware lids
When the Tupperware company filed for bankruptcy in late 2024, it wasn't the end of the famous plastic container company ... at least, not to date. And it's not like this brand totally dominates the food storage game. We don't know about you, but we've gotten in the habit of calling all our storage boxes "tupperware," much in the same way that Xerox, Kleenex, and Velcro are brand names that everyone uses generically. Regardless of what you call those containers, using napkin holders from the dollar store is going to contain the lids. Ideally, you want a napkin holder that has open spaces where you can attach hooks, kind of like this no-frills, albeit more expensive-than-a-dollar black napkin holder we found on Amazon.
All you need are small adhesive hooks to mount your napkin/lid holder. These should have strong sticking power while also being damage-free for the paint or varnish inside your cabinets. Three hooks should be sufficient to hold up the napkin holder inside the cabinet. Give some regard to how big your biggest lids are so that you leave enough clearance at the tops and sides to easily slide those components in. We've seen folks successfully mount the napkin holders side-by-side, but you may want to stagger them for the best results. You are only limited by how much space you have to hang lids. One thing is for sure ... you are never going to find yourself cursing at falling lids ever again!
