The Best Hershey's Kisses Flavor Is Harry Potter-Themed

When a Foodie feature writer loaded up on Hershey's Kisses to rank them from worst to best, there was a long list of contenders. These little foil-wrapped cones of chocolate with the paper plumes have been delighting us since 1907 and, in that time, we've seen both special-edition and festively-wrapped Kisses come and go. Some persist today, like Milk Chocolate With Almonds and Hershey's Hugs, but plenty have joined the multitudinous ranks of discontinued candy bars, like Coconut, Dulce de Leche, and Orange Creme. To our reviewer, one Kiss rose head and shoulders over the rest, and that was Butterbeer, inspired by the iconic "Harry Potter" beverage sipped by the Golden Trio of the books and movies. "I felt like I was stepping foot into a most delicious and magical world of The Three Broomsticks," our writer gushed, clearly entranced by the essence of the Wizarding World.

According to the review, the overwhelming flavor of Butterbeer Kisses was butterscotch (which has a major difference from caramel), with a maple-y finish. As per the Hershey's website official description, these Kisses have a delicious surprise inside: Butterbeer-flavored creme. They are adorably wrapped in colorful foil depicting teeny-tiny symbols of "Potter" fandom, like spectacles, flying Snitches, broomsticks, and pints of foamy butterbeer. Other online reviews agreed with our reviewer, lauding the fact that the butterscotch essence was rich and just the right amount of sweet without being cloying.

If you want to try these Kisses, prepare to search

Our reviewer bought Hershey's Butterbeer Kisses on Amazon, where the "Harry Potter" Kisses come in a bulk bag for maximum snackage. That third-party seller may be among the only places they are currently available, however. A peek at Target, Walmart, and Kroger, who all come up on search engine hits for the Kisses, show them out of stock. A similar message even comes up on Hershey's website. If you are keen to sample a magical taste of butterbeer candy, you may have to settle for coughing up reseller prices... at least, as of this writing.

As we said, Hershey's Kisses flavors rotate. A lot of times, if a variety is popular, the company will bring it back to production down the line. In Fall 2024, Hershey did just that with the beloved Birthday Cake flavored Kisses. Seasonal flavors are also constantly changing over the year, like Chocolate Dipped Strawberry for Valentine's Day and Candy Cane Kisses for Christmas. Don't abandon all hope of ever trying Butterbeer Kisses, because it wouldn't surprise us at all if Hershey rolls them out again one day. The magic of the "Harry Potter" franchise isn't showing any signs of waning — a brand-new TV adaptation of the books is making headlines — and what company doesn't love cashing in on popular IP? Take heart, Potterheads: Even if you didn't get your acceptance to Hogwarts, you might eventually be able to console yourself with a sweet treat.
