This Wisconsin-Based Fast Food Burger Is One Of The Best There Is, According To Reviews

Fast food burgers are a topic of endless debate, nearly as controversial as the question of whether or not a burger is a sandwich in the first place. It seems like everyone has an opinion on McDonald's versus Burger King or smugly gatekeeps the name of a local fast food chain whose burgers are "obviously" superior. When you take the time to stack the reviews and quantify the results, however, one name stands out clearly from the pack, emerging head-and-shoulders above other comers in the American burger derby: Culver's.

Founded over 40 years ago in Wisconsin and known for its ButterBurgers (which are something special) and frozen custard, Culver's currently has over 1,000 locations in 26 states and is opening an average of 50 new locations every year. That's obviously not the same kind of coast-to-coast coverage as, say, the Golden Arches, but many will argue that Culver's is worth a longer trip. The chain's burger patties are never frozen before they are flattened and seared on the grill. The cheese on the burgers and the butter used to give the toasted buns their signature golden glow are both sourced from America's dairyland, Wisconsin. And each burger is made to order, ensuring a quality product that many drive-thrus can't touch. But don't take our word for it ... the glowing rave reviews from people who have tried Culver's burgers are almost uniformly positive.

The Los Angeles Times ranked Culver's as number seven out of 23 American chains in its fast food burger power ranking, which is just an okay placement, but they seem to be an outlier. Both Taste of Home and Thrillist awarded the chain the top spot on their similar rankings and took the time to gush about the choice, namely that it tastes quite a lot like a mom-and-pop burger made with serious attention to detail.

Over on Reddit, the amateur reviewers of social media had similarly impressed takes on the situation. "Culver's burgers are the best fast food burgers, hands down," reads the title of one thread, while another, dedicated to Culver's opinions, turned into a hugfest: "Butter Burger and milkshake from Culver's may be one of the best shake/burger combos anywhere," one poster opined. 

Don't ignore the rest of the menu, either. Many reviewers noted that the side options at Culver's do a fantastic job of supporting the superstar burgers, with the onion rings and genuine Midwest fried cheese curds getting tons of virtual ink spilled on their supremacy. It seems like the only topic up for debate is whether you should order a single or double patty on your burger, which may ultimately be decided by the ferocity of your appetite!
