An apple a day may actually offer health benefits in the form of hydration, but don't count on getting your apple fix in your Starbucks handcrafted drinks. In late July 2025, rumors started making the rounds on social media that Starbucks would no longer be offering apple juice, whether in menu drinks or as part of customizing your favorite treat. "How many college educated layers of people did this decision have to go through?" one Redditor fumed in response.
We perhaps won't go that far, be we can exclusively confirm that apple juice has largely been 86'd at Starbucks. Per an email to Foodie from a Starbucks representative: "Starbucks customers can enjoy packaged Tree Top Organic Apple Juice, which is available at all of our coffeehouses in the refrigerated case," they offered. However, "Apple juice is not available as part of a handcrafted beverage or customization option."
Anecdotally, it seems that the end of apple juice at Starbucks may have coincided with the release of its 2025 fall menu, which featured pumpkin and pecan options. In September 2025, Starbucks announced that it would be bringing back the popular Iced Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, Apple Crisp Cold Foam, and a new Apple Crisp Protein Cold Foam, all of which are made with apple brown sugar syrup, not actual apple juice. Formerly, Starbucks offered a Caramel Apple Spice drink that was a non-seasonal item made with steamed apple juice and caramel, and topped with whipped cream for a caffeine-free warm treat. Customers could also add apple juice to their iced or hot teas, lemonades, or other drinks ... but, alas, they can do so no more.
What apple juice alternatives does Starbucks offer?
If social media response is anything to go by, Starbucks's decision to get rid of apple juice is one that has upset many. Apple juice occupied a unique place in the Starbucks pantheon, being a sweet and decaffeinated option in a sea of coffee and tea. As the email from Starbucks stated, juice boxes of apple juice are still available at cafés. If you are feeling truly inspired, there's no reason you couldn't decant this apple juice into your Starbucks drink yourself as a DIY customization (just ask for room in your drink). If you aren't feeling crafty, the Siren's menu offers a few other juicy or juice-like options to quench your thirst.
Remaining on the menu is the peach juice blend that Starbucks uses in its Iced Peach Green Tea, but the tea still has caffeine. If you fancy a hot, fruity drink, self-proclaimed baristas allege on social media that Starbucks is willing to steam its caffeine-free Passion Tango tea, the blend of which contains apple notes. For that matter, barista can also theoretically steam lemonade. We've heard of the trend of adding lemonade to espresso ... maybe the time is ripe for you to try that out, so long as caffeine isn't your concern. Alternatively, steamed apple juice is easy to pull off at home with only a 4-in-1 countertop frother and steamer, making a homemade Caramel Apple Spice copycat a real possibility.
