The Growing Restaurant Chain That Only Has 2 Core Menu Items
Sometimes, it feels like you can't drive for more than five minutes without passing a familiar restaurant. Many such chains are hallmarked by a big menu designed to appeal to as many people as possible. But there's one place that goes in the opposite direction: NADC (short for Not a D*mn Chance) Burger. In fact, it goes so against the grain that it currently only offers two distinct menu items.
NADC Burger is a Texas-based restaurant chain that serves two things only: burgers and fries. To its credit, these are widely reported to be good burgers and fries. As one Yelp reviewer put it, "The burger was the real highlight — crispy edges, juicy center, and perfectly melted cheese, and just the right balance of toppings." The burgers are currently $16 and come with secret sauce, onions, pickles, jalapeños, and two patties of 100% Wagyu beef (though, given that it's sourced near Houston, it's surely American Wagyu, à la Aldi's Wagyu ground beef). The twice-fried fries are $5, come with chipotle ketchup, and can be upgraded to "Beast Mode," featuring cheese, pickles, jalapeños, and additional sauce and seasonings. Some NADC locations also serve a kid's burger and a cookie, though these aren't necessarily considered core menu items.
The eponymous NADC Burger is designed by Michelin-starred chef Phillip Frankland Lee. Despite the simplicity of the restaurant, they do reportedly allow modifications, though how many are unclear, and workers may not accommodate every request, like not using beef tallow in the French fries as they normally do.
The history of NADC Burger
NADC Burger opened its first permanent location in 2021, making it hardly the oldest restaurant in the world. Previously, it started as a temporary pop-up with the owners, pro skateboarder Neen Williams and Lee, giving the food away for free for two years. The name came from a slogan of Lee's that they adapted for the business, which is themed around skateboarding culture; locations even feature branded boards for sale. So far, NADC Burger has been quite successful. As of the time of writing, it has nine locations in five states, with one of the most recent locations opening in October 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In addition to serving good food, Williams and Lee are focused on engaging with their local communities, and to that end have collaborated with local businesses to serve cocktails and draft beer at their West 6th Austin location, which is 21+ only. They also have unique murals in each location, and some spots feature additional pieces hung on the walls, all done by local artists. As far as chain restaurants go, NADC Burger is certainly unique, for both its culture and its simplistic, yet well-regarded menu.
