The Midwestern Taco Chain We Need To See In The Rest Of The Country ASAP

We put together a pretty bomb list of the best Mexican restaurants in every state and a great roundup of the best local fast food chains. Somewhere at the intersection of all that yumminess is Condado Tacos, which has locations as far east as South Carolina but is mostly scattered throughout the Midwest. Comparable to Chipotle or Qdoba in terms of being fast casual Tex-Mex, Condado Tacos is notable for having way, way more options than all those other chains. Condado Tacos also has you covered with boozy accompaniments, offering signature margaritas, all of which can be made as alcohol-free mocktails.

After a starter drink, delve deep into Condado Tacos' menu, which features just about every permutation of bowls, burritos, nachos, and tacos that you can imagine. And, if you happen to imagine a type that doesn't already exist, you can build your own specimen using a wide range of proteins, including veggie-friendly options, and tons of toppings that include multiple varieties of salsa, queso, and guac. Most places only have one type of those, but Condado swings for the fences. The pineapple guac, featuring chipotle honey, sounds especially unique and delicious. 

This is all to say nothing of abundant, craveable sides like bacon refritos, loaded tots, and Mexican street corn. It seems like the biggest problem you might face when visiting this chain is decision paralysis, since there are just so many choices. We're big fans of variety and even bigger fans of tacos, so we're hoping that Condado Tacos expands to everyone's neck of the woods tout de suite.

"I like how many of the tacos had the corn and then flour taco around it," stated one five-star Yelp review. "The basic ground beef one had some heat, which was surprising. Served warned hubby the shrimp one was hot, and she was right! Chicken ranch one was really good; the bacon was a great addition." One YouTuber made an entire video dedicated to reviewing Condado Tacos and heaped praise on the chain: "It was fantastic. Great, tasty tacos, unlimited options [...] margaritas were great [...] really cool environment, kinda reminded me of a West Coast vibe." Over on Condado Tacos' Instagram, another comment reiterated the same positive sentiment: "Literally so so good! I came here yesterday for the first time and had to come back again because it was so good!" A Tripadvisor review of an Indianapolis outlet raved, "Condado Tacos in downtown Indy is home to great service and delicious, flavorful tacos!" That individual went on to praise the hospitable service and call special attention to the chain's Mexican street corn.

We're personally never going to turn down another taco destination, as tacos are life. For anyone located outside the Midwest, we might need to wait and hope that Condado Tacos opens a location near us or possibly check it out on a visit or road trip. In the meantime, those of us on the coasts will be thinking nonstop of that pineapple guac and all the different ways we'd build our tacos at this restaurant.
