Consider this a shout-out to all our "bedtime snack" peeps who like a little taste of something sweet at the end of a long day. We think we've found just what you're looking for. The ideal end-of-day sweet treat isn't overly heavy. Some folks opt for ice cream or gelato (and yes, there is a difference) or baked goods, but we think all these choices sit heavy in our bellies. When you want something light, refreshing, and just kissed by sugar, consider one of Aldi's frozen mango fruit bars, which social media site Reddit considers a cult taste sensation.

Aldi's lack of brand-name products is by design and meant to save you money. The fact that its Sundae Shoppe fruit bars clock in at just $3.19 for four bars (with prices and availability subject to change by store) is nice, but not nearly the biggest selling point. The main attraction is flavor. Just ask Redditors, who can't say enough about these mango-riffic pops. "I took one bite and immediately had to sit down," said one. "It wasn't just 'mango flavored.' No. It was as if Aldi had hired a team of angels to hand press the very concept of joy into frozen form and then said, 'Yeah, we'll sell these for like $3.'"

Another thread alleged that it wasn't just the mango bars that were spectacular, but the entire line: "Those fruit bars are better than any Dole or major brand fruit bar." One suggestion that we're in love with? Sprinkling Tajín Clásico over the bars for a spicy-sweet take on chamoy fruit cups.

Aldi's mango fruit bars are a worthy treat

The Sundae Shoppe frozen fruit bars just skyrocketed to the top of our ongoing list of the best products to buy at Aldi. These fruity popsicles are cheap, yummy, and, best of all for those watching calories, aren't a significant burden on your daily macros. One bar contains 110 calories, which is minimal even for folks trying to cut back on calorie intake. We like that these bars aren't stuffed full of junk, either. In the mango variety, mangoes are the second ingredient, behind only water, and both the flavorings and colorings in the bars are naturally derived. They also contain 13% of your daily value of vitamin C, which isn't too shabby for a small pick-me-up that you can probably wolf down in a couple of minutes.

Next time you are browsing Aldi for your weekly grocery haul, take a moment to stop by the freezer section and look to see if the frozen mango bars are in stock. We suspect that you will love these light, delicately sweetened pops, which can satiate your sweet tooth without overloading your tummy. Besides an end-of-day snack, these bars would also be delicious on a hot day to cool down after running around doing errands, and they are unlikely to leave you with that uncomfortable, overly-full feeling. Reddit seems to love them, which, in our experience, is generally a positive sign. You can bet that we'll grab a few boxes on our next shopping trip!
