Taco Bell Is Releasing A New Baja Blast Flavor For The First Time Ever In 2025
Taco Bell's Live Más LIVE fan experience made its way to New York City yesterday, and we are shook to the core. Taking place at the Brooklyn Paramount theater, the live-streamed event offered the Bell's biggest fans the opportunity to hobnob with the company's execs and get cutting-edge news about what delicious new food items were coming in 2025. Taco Bell's Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Taylor Montgomery rocked the house with his high-energy presentation. He flashed to some recent successes with limited time items, like the chicken nuggets with dipping sauces and birthday cake churros created in partnership with Milk Bar, and announced a slate of new and fascinating goodies coming up.
Perhaps the most exciting news he shared was the fact that a new Baja Blast flavor was arriving at Taco Bell this summer, marking the first time ever that a spinoff on Taco Bell's signature drink will hit the chain's soda fountains. "Now that the Baja Blast is 21 [years old], we think it should stay out a little later," Montgomery said, teasing Baja Blast Midnight — Taco Bell's passionate, purple spin on Baja Blast.
What does Baja Blast Midnight taste like?
You may have seen Mountain Dew's zany 2025 Super Bowl ad featuring singer Seal as a literal seal and wondered what they were thinking, but what we know of Baja Blast Midnight inspires nothing but good vibes. The Dew drop features an enticing flavor profile that Montgomery described as, "the tropical lime storm that you love with a burst of passionfruit," and promised that "it's gonna pair with everything you love at Taco Bell."
Attendees at the Live Más LIVE event were treated to sample cans of the concoction. Reviews will probably trickle in over the next few days, but it's easy to imagine that, with everything we love about Baja Blast paired with even more tropical zing, the purple-hued sip is going to be a smash hit.
Baja Blast was first concocted by Pepsi in 2004 as a Taco Bell exclusive to help the chain stand out. At first, you could only get Baja Blast at the restaurant, but it eventually made its way to supermarkets in canned and bottled form. Grocery store consumers are no strangers to diverse canned Baja Blast flavors, which have steadily rolled out since 2021 when Baja Punch and Baja Flash hit shelves. Nowadays, you can even buy multiple hard (alcoholic) Baja Blast varieties for when you want a little extra boom-boom in your Blast. But, at first, you'll likely need to hit up your local Taco Bell to sample this new flavor.
