The Baja Blast Hack That Belongs On Taco Bell's Permanent Menu

In our humble opinion, slurping down a Baja Blast is the best part of our meal at Taco Bell. We love this Mountain Dew product so much that we even learned how to make a copycat Baja Blast at home using just three ingredients, but nothing compares to the fizzy, crispy taste of this drink straight from the fountain. Well, that is, except for the Dirty Mountain Dew Baja Blast Dream Soda, the Bell's fiendishly-craveable take on the dirty soda trend in which dairy, flavored syrup(s), and/or other add-ins are added to soft drinks to create a customized beverage.

The Dirty Mountain Dew Baja Blast Dream Soda, which we will heretofore refer to as a Dirty Baja Blast for the sake of brevity, consists of vanilla creme swirled into a Baja Blast. We weren't expecting to be as excited about this limited-time menu item as we were about, say, the Baja Blast Midnight flavor that Taco Bell teased at its 2025 Live Más LIVE fan experience, but one sip had us fully committed. It's been compared to liquid key lime pie, a mellow, sweet sip in which the creme soothes the sting of the drink's carbonation, making it go down sinfully smooth.

Much to our dismay, this item was only available as a digital exclusive and isn't currently available, but we think it belongs on Taco Bell's default roster. Luckily, it's so, so easy to hack this fast food dirty soda at home.

Until TB brings back the Dirty Baja Blast, we will make due with DIY

Certain parts of the internet were absolutely enraptured with the Dirty Baja Blast. "I tried it on Friday and it reminded me of melted sherbet! I loved it!" a Redditor gushed on the Mountain Dew subreddit. Several commenters pointed out that the drink was easy enough to replicate cheaply at home. Baja Blast is a permanent part of Pepsi's retail drink assortment, and, with some coffee creamer, you can easily make the dirty 'Blast of your dreams.

Vanilla creamer will produce results closest to the Taco Bell concoction, but you needn't stop there. Coconut, anyone? We've even seen dedicated dirty soda creamers on retail shelves, but the regular kind will work just fine. Redditors like to add some rum to their dirty sodas for an adult sip, but you can feel free to keep your Baja Blast rated PG and "dirty" in name only.

It's always a sad day when our favorite Taco Bell menu items disappear. In late 2024, the company 86'd the Chicken Chipotle Melt, for instance, and we still haven't made amends. Will the Dirty Mountain Dew Baja Blast Dream Soda ever reappear on Taco Bell menu boards, even seasonally? Right now, our drive-thru Magic 8 Ball doesn't have a definitive answer. In the meantime, we're lucky that, unlike other bygone TexMex faves, a dirty soda is a relatively simple thing to whip up on our own.
