Texas Roadhouse Vs Outback: Who Has The Cheaper Sirloin?
It's come up a lot lately that steaks taste different at restaurants due to a number of factors. If you frequent popular casual steakhouses Texas Roadhouse and Outback Steakhouse, you know that you're in for relaxed vibes, delish beef, and reasonable prices. Which of the two eateries features a better deal on sirloin steak, however? Sirloin is a perennial steakhouse favorite for its leanness and budget-friendly nature. Between Outback and the Roadhouse, does one sirloin come out ahead in the wallet stakes?
When discussing Outback vs. Texas Roadhouse in terms of deals on ribs, Texas Roadhouse came out ahead. Technically, the same is true for sirloin. Prices are subject to vary based on location, but, at two Florida branches of the chains, Texas Roadhouse was a dollar cheaper for a startlingly similar six-ounce sirloin cooked to order and served with bread and two sides. Both restaurants also offer an eight-ounce upgrade. Outback was more expensive, though by less than a dollar.
It's worth mentioning that Texas Roadhouse also offers larger 11-ounce and 16-ounce sirloin options that aren't on the Outback menu, meaning that those with bigger appetites (or folks looking to share with a loved one) have a couple more options there. Since a price difference of around one smackeroo isn't really mathematically significant, we're left wondering if there's a notable difference in customer reviews regarding sirloin steaks from the two restaurants. If they cost nearly the same, is one a better value in terms of quality?
Texas Roadhouse (just barely) edges out Outback
Two Foodie sister sites tackled all the steaks at Texas Roadhouse and Outback Steakhouse respectively, and placed the sirloins at or near the bottom of their respective rankings. Still, a writer for Tasting Table had objectively kind words for the Texas Roadhouse sirloin: "When it's handled with care — as Texas Roadhouse does — it makes for a rewarding meal." Meanwhile, over at Daily Meal, a writer was less satisfied with the grizzle in her sirloin, but saw fit to bestow faint praise: "Overall, this center-cut sirloin may be the lowest-ranking option, but it isn't bad. If you want to dine on steak for a budget, it could be a good option." Both writers observed that the sirloins weren't as premium as more expensive cuts, but Texas Roadhouse seemed to do a better job elevating what can be an otherwise humble steak.
Various social media reviews of both Outback Steakhouse and Texas Roadhouse have positive things to say about both takes on sirloin steaks, indicating that many folks enjoy them. A Reddit user opined, "in my personal experience Texas Roadhouse makes the most tender sirloin." On the other hand, Facebook hits for Outback's sirloin yielded a post in which a party who all ordered sirloin claimed that the meat was too salty. We can't in good conscience say that Texas Roadhouse is the clear number one, but it does seem to slightly edge out Outback's sirloin. Just remember to avoid eating too many delicious yeast rolls there before your steak arrives!
