Walmart Shoppers Say These Bakery Fresh Donuts Are Some Of The Best You Can Get

If you've been hanging out with us recently, it shouldn't come as a surprise to you that Walmart's bakery is full of hidden gems. When the uninitiated among us think about the supercenter giant, they probably think "rollbacks" and "blue vests," but not necessarily "amazing bakery fare." That, friend, is a mistake. We covered Walmart's lemon-blueberry muffins, which are some of the best we've tried, and its bakery hot dog buns, which customer reviewers go gaga over. Lately, however, we've found another new item to obsess over, and our collective sweet tooth has never been happier.

The store's Freshness Guaranteed Persian Cinnamon Donuts come six to a package and represent a gorgeous, tempting mix between a honey bun and a cinnamon roll, glazed in a sugar coating. Well over 2,000 reviews contributed to the donuts' 4.3 out of 5-star rating, and some of them are downright overjoyed with these treats. "The best in this area," one such review stated flatly. "Soft, fresh, and delicious!" another was titled, going on to add: "These Freshness Guaranteed Persian cinnamon donuts were soft, moist, and full of cinnamon flavor. They tasted fresh right out of the package and didn't last long at all. Perfect with coffee or as a sweet treat any time of day. Would definitely buy again."

Yet another satisfied customer referred to the donuts as "[t]he best thing at Walmart," and raved, "Of all of the things that Walmart puts their name on, this is the one thing they got right. When fresh, they are like the perfect glazed doughnut with just the right amount of cinnamon."

For optimal satisfaction, grab these donuts in the morning

If you've read up on how to keep donuts fresh overnight, you understand that a little care is sometimes necessary to make older donuts taste just as good as they did fresh from the bakery. One potential downside of the Freshness Guaranteed cinnamon donuts is that they really seem to live up to their name the most when they are put out in the mornings, right after they've been baked. A whopping 70% of the reviews on these donuts are positively glowing, but the handful of poor comments seemed to indicate that texture and taste went down the drain a bit when the donuts sat around. Concerned customers may want to closely observe the dates on the packaging to make sure they get the freshest donuts possible and perhaps avoid this variety if it makes its way to the clearance rack — which seems unlikely in the face of several reviews complaining that the donuts sell out early!

As of this writing, the Persian cinnamon donuts were retailing for under $5 a box, which is a drop-dead steal for a half-dozen pastries. We'll happily take our chances on donuts that sport excellent reviews and cost less than a buck apiece, rather than rolling the dice on much pricier specimens from Dunkin' or Krispy Kreme. Walmart's bakery is starting to look more and more like an unsung hero of food retail, and we're fully sat for enjoying the spoils of its quest for supremacy.
