Order Your Next McDonald's Chicken Sandwich German-Style And Never Go Hungry Again

Fries and a Diet Coke from the Golden Arches may not cure your migraine, but there's a delicious menu hack that might just ensure you get super full off just one sandwich ... and we have our German friends to thank for the inspo. A peek at the Deutsch McDonald's site reveals the mighty Double Chicken Burger (hint: Google Translate is your friend), which features not one but two chicken patties piled up inside a bun with lettuce and "a fruity sweet chili sauce." Can you possibly replicate this hefty chicken sammie in North America? We think that you can, albeit with some minor modifications.

First of all, you'll need to double the patties on your chicken sandwich. There are a few distinct chicken sandwich options on the McDonald's menu, including both regular and spicy McChickens and regular and spicy McCrispies. Dollar for dollar, the McChicken will be your least expensive bet. All you have to do is order an extra patty. A McChicken comes with mayo, so, for the closest experience to an authentic German handheld, 86 the creamy spread. What you want instead is a package of McDonald's Creamy Chili Sauce, which was added to the year-round menu along with McCrispy Strips in spring 2025. It's not a perfect 1:1 swap for the bright red, syrupy sauce we see on the German chicken sandwich, but we think it will still be yummy. Open the package and apply your sauce in whatever manner you find easiest and most hygienic, and your filling, delish chicken creation is good to go!

All in all, what we're gathering from this thought experiment in building an English-speaking replica of the German two-for-one chicken sandwich is that it just might be the case that chicken sandwiches were destined to be piled up two-by-two for a more bountiful nosh. Double cheeseburgers are a "thing" at nearly every burger shop you go to; why shouldn't chicken sandwiches enjoy the same treatment?
