The Brand Behind Costco's Kirkland Signature Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc Wine

Now, we're taking a look at another beloved tipple, the Kirkland Signature Marlborough sauvignon blanc. While there's no small amount of opacity behind some of the origins of Costco's wines and spirits, the sauvignon blanc wears its heart on its sleeve, quite literally. It's also known as the "Ti Point" sauvignon blanc (both names appear on the label), and, indeed, the Ti Point winery of New Zealand is responsible for this sip.

Ti Point Wines gets its name from the eponymous peninsula on which it exists in the northern part of New Zealand. Its vineyard was established in the 1990s, and the terroir of Ti Point, which gets its distinction from the proximity of the sea, is said to be present in its full range of wines. The unique Ti Point logo (an oval overlaid with a cross) is even replicated on the bottles of Costco sauvignon blanc. Today, you can snag a 750 mL bottle of this wine for just north of eight bucks (with pricing and availability subject to change, of course). You should consider giving it a try, because the internet has good things to say about this inexpensive vino.

"D**n! Kirkland Sauvignon Blanc," reads one Reddit headline. "Didn't have high hopes but picked up a bottle of Kirkland/Costco New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. $6.99 per bottle. I'm heading back tomorrow for a case. Crisp, nose w/peach, apricot, citrus. Good acidity. What a steal!" Another Reddit oenophile agreed with the assessments regarding price and quality, writing, "This is a very good wine. Very good acidity. Good price. Will definitely buy again [if] I see it in Costco. Definitely going down the NZ Sauvignon Blanc rabbit hole now." A few years back, Reddit was still talking about this wine and its bonafides, with one commenter writing, "This NZ Sauvignon Blanc was crisp and refreshing, with notes of green apple, grapefruit and gooseberry. A steal at $6.99."

Meanwhile, Wine Enthusiast awarded this bottle with an impressive 87 out of 100 points. Some have suggested chilling the bottle slightly to curb the impressive acidity that so many commenters pointed out. More praise had a lot to say about the nuance and complexity of flavor that was apparent when this wine was sipped. It's also impressive to note that, like Costco's hot dog combo, which would cost much more if inflation were factored in, the Ti Point sauvignon blanc has experienced only mild price fluctuations over the years.
