Ben & Jerry's Best-Selling Ice Cream Flavor Has Been Around Since 2000

The name of that popular scoop? Half Baked, referencing its melange of vanilla and chocolate ice cream, fudge brownie pieces, and bits of cookie dough. In a December 2025 Instagram post, the company revealed Half Baked was number one in the annual top 10 countdown of favorite flavors, a position it has held, on and off, for years. It's not just a hit in the United States, either, as Half Baked is second only to Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough in its list of favorite Ben & Jerry's flavors globally.

It is one of only two surviving entries in Ben & Jerry's 2Twisted! range, the other being Everything But The..., and was the subject of a 2006 claymated advert. It features the company founders' voices and, while quirky, is way easier on the eyeballs than this truly creepy commercial from McDonald's. Half Baked regularly makes it to social media conversations concerning people's go-to Ben & Jerry's flavors, though it does face stiff competition from its close cousin, Peanut Butter Half Baked and runner-up in the company's top 10, Cherry Garcia.

The food world is full of classic and unusual combos (we're looking at you, Midwest staple peanut butter and chili), and Half Baked falls squarely in the former category. Chocolate and vanilla is an easy pairing, but fans love the consistent balance of sweet, rich, and creamy that Ben & Jerry's best-selling flavor offers — even if some want it in bigger tubs. One reviewer, echoing Dante's 14th-century poem "the Divine Comedy," described it as "like Virgilius guiding Dante towards redemption and enlightenment." There's no topping that!

They are an inclusive employer, Greyston Bakery, which makes the brownie chunks, and Rhino Foods, the provider of the cookie dough and stalwart champion of its staff. Some Ben & Jerry's stans have taken notice of a TikTok video that claimed brownie pieces were hidden in a Brownie Batter pint and that cutting through the cardboard would reveal the secret stash. Although some tried replicating that, not everyone is convinced by the edited video. Chances are all the Half Baked is fully in the pint.
