15 Of Our Favorite Trader Joe's Frozen Foods That Cost Less Than $5

You don't have to own a viral TJ's mini tote bag to get excited about each month's new arrivals (check out our picks for May). There's always something interesting to pick up — particularly in the freezer section — at prices to suit every pocketbook. Ever since the first store opened in 1967, TJ's has been pushing the envelope of American grocery shopping. Over the years, customers have been introduced to a range of cuisines from around the world, incredible artwork; whether it's on the walls or on the packaging, and no other retailer has the brand's iconic bell communication system.

Not that it's perfect. We know a trip to Trader Joe's can be a frenetic experience, especially the outlet on New York City's Upper West Side, but all that is forgotten when we're stocking the freezer with good eats. Like many retailers, TJ's has plenty of seasonal and limited-edition items that shouldn't be slept on, but some of our fave frozen products are available all the time (though that can vary depending where you live) and they all cost under five bucks!

Vanilla Hold the Cone! Mini Ice Cream Cones

When you absolutely have to have something cool 'n' sweet, but don't want to slip into a sugar coma, TJ's Vanilla Hold the Cone! treats are just the job. The range also includes strawberry, chocolate, coffee bean, and chocolate chip flavors, you get eight in a box, and they're perfect for cookouts, celebrations of every kind, or for scarfing while watching the game.

Buy Vanilla Hold the Cone! Mini Ice Cream Cones for $3.99

Unsweetened Organic Açaí Puree

A paper towel is all you need to store fresh berries, but frozen ones are even more convenient. Trader Joe's has taken it one step further with its bags of unsweetened, organic puréed açai. The superfruit is a brilliant way to boost a breakfast smoothie, and adding one of the four single-serve sachets means it's easier than ever to get all the benefits.

Buy Unsweetened Organic Açaí Puree for $4.99.

Spicy Spuds

Need to give dinner a flavorful, carbohydrate punch? Crack open the freezer and grab a bag of Spicy Spuds. They're a munchable blend of spuds covered in cayenne pepper and paprika, as well as Parmesan cheese, onion, and lime. Cook them from frozen whichever way you prefer, whether it's in the oven, on the stove or in the air fryer, and watch as the whole tribe devours them.

Buy Spicy Spuds for $4.49.

2 Affogatos Vanilla Non-Dairy Frozen Desserts

You don't have to be vegan to slurp down these tasty frozen treats, but it's nice to know everyone can enjoy them. You get all the theatre of creating your very own affogato too, with dinky sachets of instant coffee that are poured into the centre of the dessert, followed by a splash of hot water. Instant Italian bliss. Is two in a pack enough?

Buy 2 Affogatos Vanilla Non-Dairy Frozen Desserts for $4.49.

Pizza Bianca

Store-bought frozen pizzas can be a bit meh, but TJ's wood-baked Pizza Bianca is in a class of its own. It's a cheese-lover's delight; slathered in a Parmesan sauce, topped with more fresh Parm and mozzarella, as well as onion and rosemary. It's a perfect example of a simple thing done very well — and at less than $5 it's a weeknight dinner steal. Remember to ignore the myth and recycle that pizza box!

Buy Pizza Bianca for $4.99.

Simit Turkish Sesame Bread

If a croissant and a bagel had a baby, it might look a little like Simkit Turkish sesame seed bread, but that's where the comparison ends. TJ's Ankara style offerings have a crunchy outside and a soft, nutty interior, while the hint of molasses-based glaze and sesame seeds take it to the next level. Thaw them before eating at room temperature with sweet or savory toppings, or toss them frozen in a medium oven for around 5 minutes.

Buy Simit Turkish Sesame Bread for $3.49.

Crustless Peanut Butter & Strawberry Jam Sandwiches

Just when you think there's no way anyone could improve on the classic PB&J, Trader Joe's unveiled this clever product. Ideal for picnics, lunchboxes, or sneaking in as a snack when nobody's looking, there's no fuss or mess. While one Redditor gave them "100000/10," unfortunately Smucker's was less impressed, and filed a lawsuit against TJ's in late 2025, claiming the retailer copycatted their Uncrustables.

Buy Crustless Peanut Butter & Strawberry Jam Sandwiches $3.79.

Fruits & Greens Smoothie Blend

There are many interesting vegetables we can add to our daily smoothie, but if you're pressed for time, grab a bag of Fruits & Greens Smoothie Blend from the freezer. It's a delicious blend of strawberries, blueberries, spinach, dragon fruit, kale, and bananas, and just needs blitzing with the liquid of your choice for a healthier start to the day. There are no added sugars so if you prefer a sweeter smoothie, add a teaspoon of honey.

Buy Fruits & Greens Smoothie Blend for $3.99.

Apple Blossoms

We've previously spotlighted Apple Blossoms as one of TJ's most popular desserts, and the love is showing no signs of waning. One Redditor called them "the antidote to a bad day at work," and it's easy to see why. Crisp, buttery pastry wrapped around a filling of yummy Northern Spy apples, they're dreamy served on their own, but if you really want to make them sing, cover them in caramel sauce.

Buy Apple Blossoms for $2.49.

Cheese & Green Chile Tamales

It's a brave retailer that puts its name to a frozen tamale, but Trader Joe's cheese and green chile variety hit the spot for both flavor and price. The filling is delicious, a combination of green chillies, puréed red chili, and Monterey Jack cheese, wrapped in corn masa. Each one is carefully wrapped in corn husks and are ready to eat after a half-hour in the oven or 4 minutes in the microwave if you can't wait that long.

Buy Cheese & Green Chile Tamales for $3.79.

Black Sesame Mochi

Could there be a big-name brand behind TJ's mochi ice cream range? The rumours are still out there but they won't stop us from piling boxes of the bite-sized desserts into our carts. We love the regular flavors but who could pass up the limited edition black sesame version, which has a slightly more savory bent? The retailer calls it a conversation starter but we think it would be the opposite — until we'd eaten them all, anyway.

Buy Black Sesame Mochi for $4.99.

Turkey Burgers

The warmer months are packed with all kinds of barbecues, cookouts, and picnics. If ever the whim for a lighter bite takes us, we're covered with TJ's packs of four frozen turkey burgers. The company promises they contain zero "by-products, mechanically separated meat, or trimmings," just a combination of white and dark meat and a sprinkle of kosher salt. Fire up the grill!

Buy Turkey Burgers for $3.79.

Mini French Baguettes

We love adding a little "Ooo la la" to the dinner table, and these cute, mini French baguettes are a quick, easy way to make that happen. Manufactured by a French bakery, they're par-cooked and can go from frozen to ready to eat with absolutely anything (we recommend a slick of good butter) after around six minutes in a 400-degree Fahrenheit oven.

Buy Mini French Baguettes for $4.49.

Greek Spanakopita

I've tried making this delicious dish so many times and never quite got it right. The same can't be said for TJ's frozen pie version, which has traditional Greek filo pastry made by Athenian bakers. Everything, from that aforementioned crunchy pastry to the savory, herby filling, is spot on. Shoppers rave online about the bite-sized version, and we think this bad boy is every bit as good.

Buy Greek Spanakopita for $4.99.

Outside-In Stuffed Gnocchi

If gnocchi were albums, Trader Joe's would be on its tricky fourth disc, but they knocked it out of the park with this twist on the savory side. The retailer partnered with an Italian manufacturer to put the sauce that usually covers gnocchi on the inside, so each one has a pop of tomato and mozzarella cheese. Kids (of all ages) can't get enough of 'em.

Buy Outside-In Stuffed Gnocchi for $3.69.
