Fast Food Chains' Best New Menu Items Of October 2026

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of fast food limited-time menu items. We've come a long way since the '60s, when a quarter gave you tons of options at fast food restaurants, but that doesn't mean we still don't love to pick up a little somethin' at the drive-thru — and that satisfaction is only increased when we try out a nosh that we can't normally grab. Looking ahead to October, it seems like we'll have quite a few options for snacks that are fresh, intriguing ... and, most importantly, fleeting. As was the case when we covered the best new fast food items of September 2026, you can expect that most of these buys will enjoy only a short time in the sun of public adoration before making way for something else. 

Not every fast food titan is located in every territory, but don't be discouraged if some of these special items can't be accessed from your exact location. As the pages of the calendar flip, so do quick service promotions shuffle ... meaning that there's only so long before your favorite drive-thru is graced by a special buy. None of the Angus Maximus's accoutrements hit the list of unusual burger toppings, but they're pretty darn effective all the same: American cheese, onions, pickles, and "special sauce" all crowning two charbroiled patties between buttered buns. This handheld, available now, marks a couple of special moments for Carl's Jr. — it's the company's first limited-time offering under it's new "burger revolution" — the corporate debut of burgers cooked to order. Based in Cali, this fast food giant is banking on freshness and quality materials to make a splash. 

We love Krispy Kreme for classic glazed donuts, but catch us checking out these special edition poppables. The equivalent of a Munchkin (à la Dunkin'), these tiny balls of donut deliciousness are bite-sized and ideal for sharing. Like a churro, they're rolled in cinnamon sugar and served with dulce de leche sauce for dipping. Unlike a churro, they're spherical! You could call us churro-holics, so this is all very exciting. We'd say that you should research how to keep donuts fresh overnight ... but, realistically, these probably aren't even going to last the car ride home. 

You might know Del Taco as one of the rare drive-thrus where you can snag a burger during breakfast hours, but just imagine waking up to this: a pile of crinkle-cut fries laden with beef, "Flamin' Hot" queso, and beloved nacho toppings like tomatoes, sour cream, shredded cheese, and jalapeños. Sounds like a flavor sensation to us. These are a step beyond Taco Bell's flavor-dusted Nacho Fries for a dipping, cheesy experience that will satisfy your love for heat. They're available now at the West Coast chain.

Firehouse Subs recently took to social media to herald the return of its beloved seasonal sub inspired by the best part of Thanksgiving: the leftovers. Celeb chef Ina Garten does her Turkey Day prep days in advance, but you can run out right now and pick up one of these subs, which is bedecked with white meat turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and creamy mayo. Some might argue that it's too early in the year for this fare, but we love to double-dip on our holiday bounty: Thanksgiving subs and Halloween candy!
