The 10 Best Wawa Hot Breakfasts To Start Your Day

On the list of the best gas station food, it's hard to quarrel with Wawa's supremacy. The Pennsylvania-based company has blossomed from a City of Brotherly Love institution to a mainstay of 14 East Coast and Midwest states, exposing the masses to homegrown delights like Utz potato chips and TastyKake snack cakes. All that's missing is some Philadelphia-style water ice

And yet, one of the Wawa offerings that keeps us coming back for more is its breakfast. Who doesn't love a satisfying, savory bite in the morning, whether you originally came to fill up your gas tank or you made a purposeful stop to fill your belly? From unique spins on egg sandos to quesadillas to humble avocado toast, Wawa has amazing options for both made-to-order and grab-and-go breakfast options that will power you through a busy day ahead.

Keep in mind that the availability of Wawa food is subject to change based on location and time of day. Beyond that, however, sit back and drool over a sampling of the scrum-dilly-umptious hot breakfast items available under the sign of the goose. We don't know about you, but we just may be heading to Wawa first thing tomorrow morning!

Southwest Chipotle Avocado Toast

There's a difference between pico de gallo and salsa that was evidently lost on Wawa's copywriters, as the tomato-y, onion-y substance atop this delish-looking avo toast is described as "salsa." It's clearly pico, but we won't hold that against our beloved convenience store. With a generous drizzle of chipotle sauce and some mashed avocado on sourdough, this is yummy ... no matter what you call it.

Bacon French Toast Sandwich

When we discussed the best bread for French toast, we weren't thinking about making a sandwich with it. Honestly, we're kicking ourselves for not going there! This delectable handheld has all the usual suspects in a breakfast sammie (eggs, bacon, cheese), but makes it special by laying it all between two slices of golden French toast. The sweet and salty contrast gets us every single time! Grab a cup of syrup (sadly, that's an upcharge) and drizzle it all over the top. Thank us later.

Teriyaki Chicken Steak & Eggs Breakfast Bowl

You can add canned chicken to your omelet to boost its protein, but how about an egg bowl with chicken and steak, to say nothing of any cheese(s) you might add? Holy protein bomb, Batman! As made in the above picture, this bowl is loaded with double meats, pico de gallo, and avocado spread, all drizzled with a sweet teriyaki sauce. Like most of Wawa's made-to-order breakfasts, you can change up the toppings to your heart's content. This one is a limited-time item as of this writing, so get it while the grabbing's good!

Honey Hot Bacon, Egg & Cheese Snack & Go Wrap

When you want something petite but powerful in taste, we recommend one of Wawa's Snack & Go wraps. Endlessly customizable, you can certainly concoct your own. For a classic recipe, however, we like the basic combo of an egg patty, cheese, and bacon, taken over the top with a squeeze of hot honey. Honey never spoils, and neither does our appetite for a sweet-spicy kick on the way to work in the morning.

Veggie & Egg Omelet Sandwich

Crispy spinach and tomato don't make the list of the best vegetables you should add to a smoothie (plus, tomato is a fruit, anyway!), but they sure are just as yummy in the morning. This one goes out to our vegetarian friends, who will surely enjoy this breakfast of an egg folded around cheese and veggies. Nestled between two slices of toast, this omelet sandwich is so hearty that you won't miss the meat. It's awfully fresh for gas station food, too.

Cheesy Fajita Veggie Breakfast Panini

The country of origin for fajitas might not be what you'd expect, and neither is this deceptively simple panino. Eggs, veggies, and cheese are not a groundbreaking combo, but you probably weren't banking on a pop of zesty Southwest seasoning in the peppers and onions, which marries perfectly with the strata of egg and cheese. Cream cheese is smeared on top and bottom for good measure, a decision that we fully endorse.

Sausage Patty Croissant Sandwich

TikTok made s'mores with croissants; Wawa uses them to make some fire sandwiches. Sausage, egg, and cheese is another breakfast sandwich standby that can be pretty humdrum and uninspired, especially coming from a gas station hot bar. Yet Wawa makes its take on the standard transcendent with the surprisingly flaky, buttery croissant. We also find the sausage unusually flavorful and pleasantly textured.

Ham Club Bagel Sandwich

We've discussed cream cheese as a mayo swap on sandwiches before, and nowhere would it be better received than on one of Wawa's stuffed bagel sandwiches, we think. Just look at that thing! As described, it's laden with sliced ham and cheese, an egg patty, bacon, spinach, and tomato. This is breakfast that eats like brunch and a meal that's sure to keep you moving until noontime.

Sausage, Egg & Cheese Sizzli Biscuit

Meatloaf was once a breakfast food, but a 21st-century consumer is much more accustomed to a sausage biscuit. You can get one almost anywhere, and Wawa makes it easy for you to grab its Sizzli sandwiches, as they are kept warm under a heat lamp by the registers. No waiting for made-to-order grub! This is a solid take on a breakfast classic, we think. The biscuit passes muster, the egg is surprisingly solid, and the sausage, as we mentioned, is a strength of Wawa's. We like Sizzli sandwiches overall, but this is a standout.

Seasoned Beef Breakfast Burrito

We enjoy burritos any time of day — remember when we covered the best burritos in California? — but a breakfast burrito especially slaps. Ideally, it's loaded with good stuff, fat enough to feel really substantial, and full of big flavor. Wawa has a princely array of burrito options, but, for our money, we like the seasoned ground beef. It's a standout among more usual breakfast meats, and it pairs super well with the cylindrical egg patty and adhesive layer of cheese, kind of like an eggy, loose-meat burger.
